The Audi A5 Sportback has been redesigned with an appearance blending an elegant design with high functionality and interior comfort. Featuring a completely re-engineered suspension and innovative driver assistance systems as well as the latest infotainment features.
The features of the new A5 Sportback are made up of dramatic shapes and athletically taut surfaces. A stretched wheelbase, short overhangs and a long, wrap around front lid with power dome feature while the Singleframe front grille has been redesigned to be significantly flatter and wider than the previous model. The wave-pattern shoulder line traces all three dimensions and is noticeably more strongly accentuated than the previous model. Pronounced bulges over the wheel arches reinforce the A5's quattro DNA and equally precise styling features on the rear with a stretched luggage compartment lid which ends with a characteristic spoiler edge. Thanks to an intelligent mix of materials the A5 is 15kg lighter than its predecessor, making it the lightest in its segment.
The Audi A5 Sportback will offer the choice between two TFSI and three TDI engine versions producing between 190hp and 286hp of power. While power output has increased by up to 17%, fuel consumption has been reduced by as much as 22% compared to previous models.
Tailor made drivetrain technology features for each engine version including six-speed manual transmission, seven-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission or eight-speed tiptronic. Optional quattro is available in two engine versions and within the 3.0TDI with 286hp quattro features as standard.
The Audi S5 Sportback boasts a powerful V6 turbo engine with the ability to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 4.7 seconds and features quattro and the eight-speed tiptronic as standard.
The spacious new S5 Sportback offers an extra 17mm in interior length an extra 11mm of shoulder room for the driver and front passenger and 24mm of leg room in the rear. The horizontal architecture of the instrument panel further emphasises the spaciousness of the cabin. Sophisticated materials are used in the interior, including optional ambient lighting with 30 colours to choose from.
In terms of luggage capacity, the A5 Sportback offers 480 litres, rating it amongst the best in its class. Optional sensor control can be added for opening the standard-fit electric luggage compartment lid.
The driver can control all functions effortlessly and intuitively thanks to the all-new operating and display concept, including free-text search. As an alternative to the standard-fit instrument dials, Audi virtual cockpit can be added as an option bringing the driver added convenience through various display options.
Audi’s top version is MMI navigation plus with MMI touch which includes 10GB of flash storage, Audi connect services free of charge for three years and an 8.3" monitor with a resolution of 1024x480 pixels.
Also included is Audi smartphone interface which integrates iOS and Android phones in a specially designed environment in the MMI. Audi phone box connects smartphones to the antenna providing superior reception quality and also charges the phone inductively without any wires.
An intelligent mix of technologies within the new A5 enhances safety, comfort and efficiency. For example, adaptive cruise control Stop&Go system including traffic jam assist relieves the driver in slow-moving traffic up to a speed of 65km/h while collision avoidance assist can intervene if the car needs to drive around an obstacle to avoid an accident. Other assistant systems available include turn assist, park assist, cross traffic assist rear, exit warning, camera-based traffic sign recognition, Audi active lane assist and Audi side assist.
